About
What is Kazeyomi?
“Reading the wind” (kaze-yomi) is the first skill every pilot learns. Kazeyomi is a preflight toolkit for pilots flying in Japan: student pilots, private and commercial pilots, people in flight operations, and pilots from overseas flying in Japan.
Services
- Kazeyomi Weather: METAR and TAF for 130 airports in Japan, decoded in plain English, color-coded by flight category, with crosswind components for every runway.
- Kazeyomi Tools: Starting with crosswind components. Aircraft performance and more are on the way.
More services will follow.
Where the data comes from
- METAR and TAF: public data from the NOAA Aviation Weather Center (US). Expect delays of up to about five minutes.
- Airports and runways: OurAirports (public domain). Japanese airport names are added by Kazeyomi.
- Weather charts and images: loaded from the public pages of the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) and other providers.
Decoding and calculations are done by Kazeyomi. If you find a mistake, please let us know and we will check and fix it.
